"Installation of the turbines started in March and now a total of 66 Haliade machines have been erected at the wind park some 35 km (22 miles) north of the island of Borkum".

GE Renewable Energy has previously said that turbine installation was to be completed around September, with commissioning to continue until the end of the year. Nacelles for the turbines were made in France, blades in Spain and towers in Germany and China. The wind farm is expected to produce 1,750 GWh of electricity a year, enough to power some 500,000 local homes.

The company behind the project is a joint venture between Partners Group, InfraRed Capital Partners, DEME Concessions and Coriolis, which, in turn, is a joint venture between GE Energy Financial Services and ADEME.
